• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Well another question who has empty 50 cal rounds?

If you find any I want a load with disintegrating link to go on the floor of the M17 trailer,

Cheers

Well, they're available and are beautiful to behold. They come with DiD's William Bowman B-17 gunner figure.

Dragon also makes an excellent .50 caliber disintegrating link ammo belt for their very excellent M2HB machine gun.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dragon-1-6-USA-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5888969854

I have the Dragon version and the links separate exactly as the original, are a scale thinness, and are incredibly realistic. The only modification necessary is to paint the brass-colored bullets a copper color, since the entire round is solid brass.

Now that you know this item is manufactured, you just have to conduct a major search & destroy mission to find it!

I have two of these and mine does not have any links that come apart.

Un fair but really I guess nobody makes any strange indeed.

I can see making the belt that would be a bear but the round would not be that hard.

I guess a belt from DID with the cloth deal cut the ends off and drill a hole in the end.

Here's another source for .50 caliber ammo with disintegrating metal links. This is the one I have, and I believe I paid $20 for the belt.

The links come apart as may be seen by the photo, are true to scale in size and thickness, and the rounds clip into the links exactly like the full-size item: DiD's Ricky Foster figure:

http://onlinedid.com/products/wwii_us/80035/

The rounds are solid brass and would benefit from having the bullets painted copper. Testors Copper is an excellent paint choice for this.

Ultimate realism! :!:

Hi All,

I've just managed to get 4 sets of the Dr Figure 50 round linked ammo off Ebay, it has the disintegrating links and seperate brass rounds. All I need to do when they arrive is dismantle the link cut off all the rounds from the cases and drill them out (I wish someone made the empty cases instead of full rounds).

Once done they will be scattered across the floor M17 trailer under the Quad.

Cheers

Excellent, Dave. Glad you've found them. With your skills and abilities you no doubt know that creating drilled-out cases from solid brass rounds would be child's play if you have a miniature lathe, such as the Sherline, Unimat, or some such.

But there sure are a lot of rounds in four belts!

Toy Space (?) used to put out 12.7mm spent ammo casings... I bought several hundred to throw down on the floor of the B-17 waist gun section that Polo made...
