• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Need Help With My Real 98K........

Battalion Commander
I hope I am posting this in the right section.
Okay,I have a real 98K and I need help with finding a part for it but I do not know what the piece is called.
It is a metal part that goes on the stock,by the round bolt, that the sling does thru.
Does anyone know the name of this piece and know where I can find one?

Also, would the M1 Garand leather sniper cheek pad fit a 98K? Just want to make it a little more comfy to shoot. :)

Please let me know,
GJ

can you post a pic of what you are looking for? Why would you want add that to a k98? Is it a true k98, a russian capture, a yugo?
There is a keeper that goes on the end of the sling after it is put through the hole through the stock just a head of the round metal disc with the hole in it

Hi Harold,
No,I do not have a picture of it and have no idea how to post picture if I had a camera.
It is a metal piece on the right side of the butt of the rifle that the sling goes thru. I guess it could be this "keeper" you mentioned,do you know where I can look at one or get one?
And yes,it is a German made,in 1944,98K.

The keeper is a leather covered piece I'll see if I can find a pic or i will take a pic of my real k98 with the sling on it showing the keeper. It does not fasten to the stock

GJ here are some pics I just took of my real k98 showing the keeper. I do have a spare sling & keeper. Hope this helps you out

I sent you a PM a minute ago with my e-mail. Would you write me and let me know how much you would want for it?
Thanks for the help.
