• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    Flat-Screens as Backgrounds

I thought I'd mention this as it's so obvious it's often overlooked. Flat-screen PC monitors and TV's are great backgrounds for figures. Just find a photo on-line or freeze a scene on a DVD or YouTube vid, put your figure in front and away you go. I did this a while ago in front of a shot of a...

Exclusive onesixth.co.uk Interview With Dragon Models – Not Out of 1/6th Just Resting

As I think most people know, I am English but have lived in Hong Kong for 17 years. My home is just 15 minutes’ drive from the HQ of Dragon Model Limited (‘DML’), and for some time it had been my intention to try to get an interview with Freddie Leung, the President of Dragon Models. Since DML...

DIY British Army ’37 Pattern Web Anklets

The 1937 pattern anklets, sometimes referred to as gaiters, were an improved alternative to puttees. Made of canvas webbing, they were uncomplicated and simple to put on as well as to remove. They had two main functions – to provide support to the ankles, and tro prevent water, mud, debris etc...

ACE MACV SOG Lucky 6 - REVIEW COMPLETED 13th November I received the new MACV SOG Lucky Six figure by ACE. It was sent to me for review by NG Hon Wai (know to all as 'Ah Wai') of TMT Hobby, who is also a partner in ACE. The box sleeve: When the sleeve is removed there is a well-packed...

DML - All is Not Lost!

I got in touch with Adrian Leung, the Director of Business Development at DML yesterday to ask about the Dragon Action Figure line. I said: I have Adrian's kind permission to pass on his answer: I know a lot of people like to knock DML, but without them our hobby would be a lot poorer - and a...

OSW Being Flagged as an Attack Site?

My Norton anti-virus has just stopped me logging on to OSW, saying it is a 'reported attack page'. I last logged on about 4 hours before without any problems. Anyone else getting this message? If anyone has an OSW Mod's email address, please could you shoot them an email and tell them? Thanks...

Major Sir John Coleman-Loft, Coldstream Guards

(This is an old bash I did in 2008. I've been sorting my Photobucket files out and had repair the links. I can't edit the original thread, so I'm posting it as new - sorry!) A not strictly accurate bash (the tunic and horse tack are wrong), but I decided that if John Coleman was wearing...

Burma / VN Hootch - WIP

OK, what do we have here? An old wicker basket, a bamboo blind, some table mats, some bamboo sticks and some thin wood laths. Here's a clue: Some progress, with VC Linh to give some scale: (I just put a bit of tape on the corners to hold it in place for the photos. I'm going to...

    DML "Martin Kleist" Fallschirmjager Tunic

I'd often wondered about the two sets of buttons running up either side of the chest of the Ramcke FJ figure, 'Martin Kleist". I treated myself to the Schiffer "German Paratroopers in N. Africa" for my birthday (18th May in case you're wondering. I like anything as long as it's not too cheap...

    DML Bren Tripod

DML Bren Tripod Here's the Bren tripod which came with DML's "Daniel Winston'. Just like the real thing it can be used as a sustained fire weapon or in an anti-aircraft role. Both of these are pretty much straight out of the box except I've painted the tripods green.

    David and Otto

I nearly called this 'The Fathers of the Special Forces' but I have another bash in the works which is about the man of who David Sterling himself called 'The Father of the SAS' (and no it's not Paddy Maine!) Both figures are more or less out of the box, except I replaced Sterling's...
