• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    FOA M3 Haltrack RC Convers

Have you thought about using Shapeways? They can 3D print parts in metal. Will probably be a bit pricey but less than custom machine work.

    Pangaea’s PzII

Re: PzII Turret Interior Thanks for the photos. Nothing there in the split hatch photo, so obviously it was a decoy much like the fake driver visor on later PzIIs.

    SdKfz 222/20mm question

I may be on a snipe hunt with the periscope. The first time I tried translating "tarnkappe" I got the impression it was a vision device. Now it translates to invisibility cloak, so now my thought is that it is a decoy, although confining vision to just the central telescope in the mantlet...

    SdKfz 222/20mm question

Panzerwerk. I will need some too one day. I am looking forward to watching your progress as I too am working on an interior. One question; do you have any information on the small central periscope in the turret roof? I have found nothing, even looking at early PzIII and IVs. I may have to...

    Another different scale

Looks good. How do you like the spade ace tracks?

    Reissue of Dragon Schwimmwagen kit.

Not to sound like I am making pathetic excuses, but everyone needs to remember that the wide tires that I made were meant as an upgrade for the 21st Century Schwimmer and Dragon wasn't even making 1/6th scale vehicles. They probably are a bit large for the Dragon kit, and you have to devise your...

    M5 from Scratch

Fantastic work! I am so envious of your skills. One constructive criticism; the return rollers and the outer face of the tracks should be painted OD. They were steel.

    3/4 ID tube

I just did a quick search of model rocket supplies, and a place called asp rocketry, or some such thing, had 30" .745 tubing for $2.19 each when ordering 3+. Like I said it was a quick search, you may find something better, but model rocket tubes may be the way to go. Since you will be using...

What number to go from 1/35 scale to 1/6?

I totally agree about using drawings, reproduction distortion etc., and I always try to find dimensions of the actual item I am trying to reproduce compared to plans I am using. I also tend to make my own drawings to work from.

What number to go from 1/35 scale to 1/6?

The copiers at Kinkos go up to 400%. Enlarge 1/35th drawings 400%, then enlarge that 146%. Gets things close enough. Anyone correct me if I am wrong. I'm no mathematician.

    One more Puppchen question

I think Panzerwerk had one at one time.

    Puppchen Question

I would guess the bore brush would be kept in one of the cylinders and any tools in the other. Dragon made a mistake using the original long rounds. Puppchen should use the shorter ones. The wheels where all metal. Must have made a lot of noise on hard surfaces.

    Puppchen Question

Doubtful that they would be aiming stakes. Puppchen was not a long range weapon and only had simple open sights.

Really impressive work! Do I understand that you do not paint with an airbrush? If that is true; you do some fine brush painting.

Has anyone on this forum ever built Panther tank bunkers?

Re: Panther tank bunkers I started on a Panther stellung many years ago, but the turret I was going to use was very inaccurate and I decided it would be easier to scratch build one. The idea was shelved, I moved on to other projects and I never looked back. The Germans also made turret bunkers...
